Software takeover · fixed-price assessment · EU contract

Your developer left. The system still has to run.

We take over business-critical custom software that nobody on your side fully understands anymore: assess it in 10 working days, make it stable, and keep it running under a monthly agreement.

Access under your NDA. No commitment beyond the assessment. You keep the report whatever you decide.

When companies call us

Usually one of these eight situations. Often two at once.

  • The only developer resignedthe knowledge walked out of the door
  • The vendor disappeared or stopped answeringinvoices paid, tickets open
  • The current vendor keeps missing deadlinesevery release breaks something
  • Nobody can explain how the system worksno documentation, no tests
  • The system is unstableoutages, slow pages, data errors
  • You inherited it through an acquisitionand need to know what you bought
  • It needs modernisationold framework, unsupported libraries
  • You no longer want to run it in-housebut cannot switch it off

How a takeover works

Three steps. Stop after any of them.

Each step has its own price and its own deliverable. Nothing is bundled, nothing is hidden in the monthly fee.

Rules we work by

  • Backups and restore are verified before anything else is touched
  • Every change goes through version control and a documented deploy
  • Credentials move into your name, never ours
  • Risky changes are agreed with you first, in writing
  • Everything we learn goes into documentation you keep
  1. 1
    Takeover assessment 10 working days · €5–10k

We read the code, infrastructure and data, talk to whoever still knows anything, and write down what the system does, where it will break next, and what it costs to keep alive.

  2. 2
    Stabilisation 4–12 weeks · €20–80k

The fixes from the assessment, in order of risk: backups and restore, deployment from a clean machine, monitoring, the critical bugs, security patches, documentation.

  3. 3
    Ongoing engineering monthly · €3–8k

A named lead engineer, agreed hours for changes, and a response time for incidents: within one business day as standard, faster or 24/7 by agreement.

The assessment

What you get

  • System map. Components, integrations, data flows, external services and who pays for them.
  • Risk register. What will break next, how likely, how bad, and what it costs to prevent.
  • Operational check. Can it be deployed from scratch? Are backups restorable? Who holds the credentials?
  • Code and dependency review. Outdated libraries, known vulnerabilities, parts nobody should touch without tests.
  • Plan and price. A stabilisation plan in order of risk, a fixed price for step 2 and a monthly figure for step 3.

What we need from you

  • Read access to the repository, servers and any documentation. We sign your NDA first.
  • One or two hours with the people who use the system every day.
  • Whatever is left from the previous developer or vendor: tickets, emails, invoices, contracts.
  • A decision-maker for a 60-minute readout at the end.

What we have done before

Stabilisation

Income · P2P lending platform

Inherited frontend backlog and broken release cycles. Our senior engineer restored releases and fixed investor-facing bugs; cooperation continued four years.

10 daysbacklog cleared

Legacy replacement

Public-sector financial institution

Old loan and guarantee system replaced, all data migrated. Several of our engineers later joined the client's own team.

Inherited e-commerce platforms and incident response

Before Bonsay, our delivery lead took over custom WooCommerce platforms from departed vendors and ran the response to a live checkout compromise: containment, forensics, remediation, hardening. Client names on request.
